What is LLIFS all about?

Whether you have been following for years or just come across the page, here is what LLIFS is all about!

While I have had an interest in the paranormal since I was teen, I have been actively researching the paranormal now for around 10 years as a part of the ever-growing paranormal community.  For around 8 of those years, I have been writing this very blog - LLIFS.  It all started with a small idea.  I wanted to write about the fun paranormal adventures I was going on.  It officially began with a simple post on social media.

People had questions.  "Why the pinkish purple light?"  "What are you doing?" "Do you talk to ghosts?".  So I decided to write a blog and talk about what it is like investigating and researching the paranormal but from a very real and honest perspective from someone who is a bit sceptical, but also thinks there is something strange in the neighbourhood.  The next step was coming up with a name.  I had many people offer suggestions as to what they thought the blog should be called.  For some reason thought, I felt like Living Life In Full Spectrum was the name.  The full spectrum part comes from the modified cameras people use to take photos in the dark.  Unofficially dubbed as full spectrum cameras (even though technically they cannot see in the full spectrum of light) it was what I thought was a fun play on words.  Sure, it didn't have the word ghost or paranormal in it, but I felt it didn't need it.  If I was going to write about the paranormal, I was going to do it my way.

"Dance like no one is watching"

I have heard this phrase so many times in my life, and it is great words to live by.  So in essence I was inspired to write like no one is reading.  That was pretty easy to do, because literally there was NO ONE reading the blog for the first couple of years.  In some ways it was a blessing because I was able to freely share my thoughts without having to worry what people thought.  Then something happened.  I wrote an article that I don't want to say went viral because it wasn't quite that big (not even close), but my readership jumped overnight from one particular article talking about some of the paranormal reality shows and people faking things being a reason that people don't take the paranormal field seriously.  It meant I now had a few eyes on what I was doing so the real work was about to begin.  I suppose I was at a crossroads.  A place where many people find themselves.  Now that I had the attention of people I could either continue in a direction where I know I would get a lot of likes and shares, or I could continue to write about the things I was passionate about.

I started what was called the Stuff Paranormal Investigators Need To Know Series.  It was a series designed to offer alternative explanations for common paranormal phenomena with the theory that once you can eliminate all the trivial natural causes, what are you left with are the things that are truly fascinating and worth another look.  I have always been about presenting all sides of the story and allowing the reader to make up their mind because essentially it is not up to me to tell you what to think.  It is not up to me to decide if something was paranormal or not.  That is up to the person themselves, but my job would be to give them as much information and the tools they need to make an informed decision.  I know it can be polarising sometimes and for that reason people tend to think I am a full sceptic.  I am really not.  I'm just not so easily convinced.

What I do want you to know is this.  Particularly over the last few years thanks to covid, my approach has changed.  I have had to spend a lot of time at home reading and so I have been reading a lot of works from our past.  What I quite enjoy about some of this work was it was about talking to people and collecting their experiences.  It was about looking at the common denominators and accepting that people have been experiencing these sorts of things for centuries.  While we have many theories about what we think they are and what causes them, we know that they DO happen.  It makes me think that the paranormal is actually a lot more normal than what we perhaps give it credit for.  I am not the kind of person that will tell someone that what they experienced was paranormal.  I will also not tell a person what they experienced wasn't paranormal because at the end of the day, who am I to know what is what?  I don't know the answers any more than the next person.  What I can give you is what I hope is a plethora of information that allows you to make your own informed decisions.  I will say that not every experience out there is paranormal.  There are a lot of things that happen that are just misunderstood.  Even once we eliminate all of that, there is still some really weird stuff happening out there and that is what I am interested in.  You will notice I am often asking people to fill out forms and surveys as it is really my own way of collecting experiences and information.  I have a few ideas to expand on this that I will talk about really soon so get ready to share your spooky experiences!

Thanks Sarah. When I found your blog years ago it was actually quite liberating to know that I was not the only one that was hard to convince. It felt good to not be alone in that position. Just recently I've taken an old blog post of yours and set up an experiment using your envelope EVP technique. I've added my own twist to it and it will be interesting to see how it all pans out. Safe to say though that you have been a great researcher and a wonderful inspiration. Many thanks!

Thankyou so much! I’m interested to hear how you go with the EVP! It takes a bit of work but we’ll worth it!
