The theme for this edition of book club is Myth or Magic, Real or Hoax! I wanted to explore a different area so this time my recommendations are a little more 'spiritual'. These are book recommendations based on what were considered to be real accounts. Did they really happen? Well this is up to you the reader to decide!
The coming of the fairies, by Arthur Conan Doyle, illustrated from photographs. Author of "The New Revelation", "The Vital Message", "Wanderings of a Spiritualist". This book contains reproductions of the famous Cottingley photographs, and gives the whole of the evidence in connection with them. The diligent reader is in a good position form a judgment upon the authenticity of the pictures. This narrative is not a special plea for that authenticity, but is simply a collection of facts the inferences from which may be accepted or rejected as the reader may think fit. The series of incidents set forth in this little volume represent either the most elaborate and ingenious hoax every played upon the public, or else they constitute an event in human history which may in the future appear to have been epoch-making in its character.

The Cottingley Fairies remains one of the most historical hoaxes of all time. Doyle was at the forefront of advocating that this case was the real deal. In order to put his point across, the Sherlock Holmes writer complied this book to convince readers. The best part about this is that there is a FREE online version as it belongs to public domain. The Montauk Project chronicles the most amazing and secretive research project in recorded history. Starting with the "Philadelphia Experiment"; of 1943, invisibility experiments were conducted aboard the USS Eldridge that resulted in full scale teleportation of the ship and crew. Forty years of massive research ensued, culminating in bizarre experiments at Montauk Point that actually tapped the powers of creation and manipulated time itself. The Montauk Project bridges the modalities of science with the most esoteric techniques ever imagined and finally catapults us to the threshold of the stars. We all know something is out there, but we're not sure exactly what. This book, at long last, begins to provide some solid clues.

If you are a reader of this blog, you may remember articles touching on the Philadelphia experiment and the Montauk Project which is what the popular television series Stranger Things was actually based on. This book is written in a first hand person's account and was widely believed to be Science Fiction, however there are those who say that it really happened. It is up to you to decide if this one is real or a great story!
Who are the ancient astronauts? Why did they first come to Earth? Why are they returning now? What part did they play in building the great monuments of antiquity? What part did they play in the formation of present and earlier civilizations? With what other beings do we share our universe? And where does the Earth fit into the cosmic scheme of things? Almost twenty years of experimental work with telepathy led to the "breakthrough" contact recorded in this book. The Ra Material is an account not only of the events leading up to this contact, but of over 200 pages of verbatim transcripts of each and every conversation!
This is a 5 book series which details telepathy sessions with those who are believed to be 'ancient astronauts'. If you are a spiritual person and interested in topics such as higher beings, ascension etc, then you will love this book. It is quite an interesting read. The transcripts are written verbatim so it is like an interview style of reading and very easy to get drawn in. Were we delving into the brilliant imagination of the human mind or is this really digging deeper into our own consciousness and its capabilities? FYI, My husband absolutely LOVED this book and has volume 2 on order.
The topics above are a little different to what I usually talk about, but I feel as a researcher it is important for us to embrace and research ALL areas under the paranormal realm. A thread has been created over at the LLIFS forums where you can continue this conversation. Do you have any books that fall under this category you have read that you want to recommend? Have you read any of these books? What are your thoughts?
